Care Camps Foundation Expands Leadership Structure With Launch of Young Professionals Board

Care Camps Foundation has launched its first Young Professionals Board, a new national leadership body aimed at strengthening industry engagement, expanding fundraising efforts and supporting corporate development across the United States.

The board marks a structural expansion for the nonprofit as it seeks to engage emerging leaders from across the outdoor industry, including professionals in marine, travel, retail and Fortune 1000 companies.

Applications and nominations are open, with plans to appoint 20 founding members during the inaugural year.

“This is an important moment for Care Camps Foundation,” Jenna Berneck, development director, said in a press release.

“We are intentionally building a leadership platform that invites the next generation of industry professionals into purpose-driven work. By engaging emerging leaders now, we are strengthening our long-term ability to serve children with cancer and the camps that make these life-changing experiences possible,” Berneck added.

To lead the initiative, the foundation appointed Garett McKinnon, chief revenue officer at Campground Views, as chair and Lexi Roberts, dealership coordinator at Long View RV, as co-chair.

McKinnon brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in sales, business development and organizational leadership.

“The formation of this Young Professionals Board represents intentional growth,” McKinnon said.

“We are building a structure that will support strong governance while empowering new leaders to contribute strategically. This is about investing in sustainable impact and creating pathways for professionals who want to align their careers with meaningful service,” Berneck added.

Roberts represents the third generation of her family’s dealership, founded in 1959, and is active in volunteer and leadership groups with the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association and the RV Industry Association.

“I grew up in the RV industry and have seen firsthand the power of outdoor experiences to bring people together,” Roberts said. “Serving as Co-Chair of the Young Professionals Board is an opportunity to help connect emerging leaders with meaningful impact.”

The Young Professionals Board will function as both an ambassador group and a leadership development platform.

Initial term lengths for members will range from one to three years as the board’s founding structure is finalized.

Care Camps Foundation supports a network of pediatric oncology camps across the United States and Canada, providing medically supervised camp experiences at no cost to families.
