Campspot will spotlight the pop-up escapes trend during its upcoming “Camp Campspot: Open Session” on June 5, offering campground and RV park operators valuable insights to help them make smarter business decisions.
Pop-up escapes emerged as a trend in Campspot’s new report, highlighting data redefining how Americans travel, just in time for summer.
According to the report, 91% of travelers now prefer local camping trips over international vacations, with affordability, convenience, and spontaneity driving the shift.
These so-called “pop-up escapes”—short, spontaneous getaways lasting one to three nights—are quickly becoming a staple in American travel behavior, especially among younger generations seeking flexibility and stress relief.
The survey, which polled nearly 2,000 travelers, found that 88% are already planning pop-up escapes this summer.
Of those, 65% chose camping as their preferred form of travel, underscoring the critical role that campgrounds and RV parks can play in meeting this demand.
Jeff Bettin, general manager of Marketplace at Campspot, views this trend as a major opportunity. “The rise of pop-up escapes represents a powerful shift in traveler behavior and a clear opportunity for the camping industry,” Bettin said.
“Campgrounds are uniquely positioned to meet that demand with the access, flexibility, and authenticity travelers are craving,” he added.
The open-for-all afternoon session is part of Camp Campspot, a one-day virtual event that will include four sessions designed to help attendees reset and refocus for the season ahead.
Participants can expect actionable takeaways and real-time examples of how data translates into stronger business performance.
Campspot’s June 5 event will also have morning sessions exclusive to platform users. Owners, operators, and managers will explore how to utilize reports to facilitate data-driven decisions for their campgrounds during the first session.
The second morning session appeals to marketers and managers as they discuss boosting occupancy with short-term promotions.
Meanwhile, the third session will feature Campspot’s integration experts and OTA platform representatives to break down must-have OTA integrations for campgrounds.
Attendees who join the live broadcast will have the chance to win an exclusive 2025 Camp Campspot T-shirt, awarded at random during the event. All sessions will be recorded and made available for later viewing.
