Campgrounds, State Parks Rank Among Top Google Searches in 2025

Go RVing is drawing attention to new consumer behavior insights following the release of Google’s Year in Search 2025, which underscores rising interest in outdoor recreation and travel planning across digital platforms.

The search data shows that campgrounds and state parks ranked among the top four most-searched destinations on Google Maps, signaling sustained demand for outdoor-focused travel experiences.

Travel itineraries also emerged as a key theme, placing within the top five most-searched topics in Google’s Food and Lifestyle category during the year.

According to a News and Insights report of RVIA on December 16, the most-searched results reflect the continued strength of the $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation industry and its broad appeal across multiple traveler segments.

The Google data aligns with insights from RVshare’s 2026 travel trend report, which similarly points to growing interest in nature-based stays and outdoor recreation.

RVshare’s report notes that campgrounds and dispersed wilderness areas offer close-to-nature experiences that traditional hotels are unable to replicate.

The report further indicates that RV travel expands on this appeal by allowing travelers to adapt their plans and move more freely with their surroundings.

Additional data from RVIA reinforces these trends, particularly among leisure travelers considering RV trips.

Nearly four in 10 leisure travelers, or 39%, plan to take an RV trip in the coming year, representing a significant increase compared to the prior year, according to the association.

At the same time, purchase interest in RVs remains steady, with 26% of consumers expressing intent.

Go RVing also reported that it has incorporated similar travel and itinerary-focused themes throughout its website content during 2025.

Travel itineraries are a central element of Go RVing’s RV-2-50 series, which marks the United States’ 250th birthday by encouraging RV travel tied to history and natural destinations.

The report also continues to promote its Find a Campground tool as a resource for RV travelers seeking campground options aligned with these emerging travel interests.
