The second session of CampVantage Live continued its focus on helping outdoor hospitality operators navigate rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. The weekly series, hosted by Insider Perks Founder & CEO Brian Searl, aims to provide campground and RV park owners with practical guidance, real-world examples, and a forum for peer-to-peer learning.
Opening the broadcast, Searl began the session with a review of recent AI headlines and how major technology shifts may affect guest expectations.
Searl noted that hospitality brands are quickly adopting 24/7 AI-driven customer service tools, including airlines and hotel groups. “They’re going to start to demand 24/7 answers to questions,” he said. “Today, with AI, this is not unrealistic anymore, because you can actually have one of these AIs be available 24/7, and it’s relatively cost-efficient.”
He pointed to examples such as Langham Hospitality Group’s AI rollout and new features emerging in the RV industry. In a recent example from RV Business, he noted a van builder offering a custom AI assistant tied directly to each vehicle, explaining that such tools “act as a 24/7 first line of support.”
The Future of Guest Interaction
Throughout the session, Searl emphasized that AI will increasingly shape how guests interact with campgrounds. He discussed the potential for digital assistants to answer questions inside cabins, tie into operational systems, and provide real-time amenity updates.
Searl offered a scenario where a guest could ask an in-unit device about cabana availability and receive immediate, camera-based verification.
“These are the little, little things that are gonna slowly change the way your guests interact with your property,” he said. “It’s going to allow you guys to make more money, it’s going to allow you to save more time, and it’s going to improve the guest experience.”
AI in Cities, Workplaces, and Robotics
Searl also reviewed broader AI developments, from municipal parking enforcement automation to enterprise tools showcased at AWS re:Invent. He noted Amazon’s framing of specialized agents as “AI employees,” describing them as digital workers that can manage software tasks with expertise similar to human staff.
He briefly highlighted consumer-facing robotics—such as autonomous dog-waste robots—and then turned to humanoid robots expected to enter the commercial market in the coming years.
“These things are only a couple years away,” he said. He estimated future pricing could make robots cost “the equivalent of about 41 cents an hour” for routine maintenance support.
EVTOLs and New Access to Outdoor Destinations
A portion of the session focused on EVTOLs—electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft—and the potential for new transportation models to affect outdoor recreation and glamping markets. Searl explained how these vehicles could reduce travel barriers for urban residents, creating new demand for remote outdoor stays.
“You should view this not as something that’s scary but something that can actually allow people… to be able to take one of these taxis… and experience nature,” he said, noting that glamping operators could benefit significantly from increased accessibility.
Practical AI Wins for Operators
Despite covering cutting-edge topics, Searl anchored the session with examples campground owners can implement immediately. He demonstrated how tools like Gemini can generate automated guest communications, edit marketing photos, create local activity guides, and improve review responses.
“The input equals the output,” he said. “Treat it just like an employee.” Searl encouraged operators to speak directly to AI systems with clear context for better results.
Searl closed by reminding viewers that AI adoption will become increasingly important as guest expectations shift. “What technology like this is gonna do is level that playing field for everybody,” he said of the current technological curve.
“It’s going to allow you to start to do some things that previously only bigger companies could do, so that you have more time to be that personal person with your guest and really set yourself apart.”
