Newport Dunes Plans Memorial Day Weekend Entertainment, Water Activities and Expanded Lodging Offerings

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina will launch its summer season with a Memorial Day Weekend event featuring live entertainment, water activities, outdoor movies and expanded lodging accommodations from May 22-25 along California’s Back Bay.

The waterfront resort said the holiday weekend lineup will include concerts, food vendors, an inflatable aquatic park and overnight accommodations aimed at families and visitors seeking extended stays during the start of the summer travel season.

“Memorial Day Weekend is one of our most anticipated moments of the year,” Phil Ravenna, general manager of Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, said. “It’s when everything comes to life across the property, from music on the bay to families out on the water, and it really captures what the summer season at Newport Dunes is all about.”

The resort’s Inflatable Aquatic Park will operate daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the holiday weekend. The floating attraction includes slides, climbing structures and obstacle-style features positioned on the resort’s waveless bay. The attraction is open to guests ages 5 and older.

Additional water activities will include paddleboard, kayak and pedal boat rentals, as well as electric Duffy boat cruises on the Back Bay.

Newport Dunes will also continue its “Tunes at the Dunes” concert series during the weekend. The outdoor performances will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Horseshoe Event Venue.

Country band Redneck Rodeo is scheduled to perform May 22, followed by reggae group Upstream on May 23 and classic rock act ShowBiz Guys on May 24.

Food trucks will operate daily from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., while full-service bars will remain open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the concert events.

Family-oriented “Movies on the Beach” screenings are also scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights at dusk, allowing guests to watch films outdoors from the beachfront.

Dining operations throughout the weekend will include Moe B’s Munchies, which will serve pizza, sandwiches, cocktails and other beverages. On Memorial Day, the venue will offer breakfast items and a full bar menu from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The resort also highlighted its overnight lodging inventory, including waterfront RV sites, tent camping and beach cottages. Newport Dunes recently added six Large Beachfront Cottages featuring expanded layouts, private outdoor decks and updated coastal-style interiors.
