AutoCamp is expanding its footprint in the outdoor hospitality sector with a new glamping destination set to open in Three Rivers, California, on March 10.
Located near Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the upcoming AutoCamp Sequoia will be the company’s fourth location in California and seventh nationwide.
The site will feature 85 accommodations, including the brand’s signature Airstream trailers, midcentury-inspired cabins, and bunk rooms designed for travelers seeking a boutique outdoor experience.
For outdoor hospitality operators, AutoCamp’s continued expansion highlights the growing demand for high-end camping experiences that merge nature with upscale amenities.
The Sequoia location’s proximity to major national parks offers a model for businesses looking to capitalize on experiential travel trends.
As interest in glamping rises, properties that offer a mix of comfort, design, and accessibility stand to attract a broader audience, including travelers who may not typically consider traditional camping.
The site will include a clubhouse with indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, a bar featuring local beverages, and a general store stocked with regional provisions, according to a report by Afar.
Guests will also have access to an outdoor swimming pool, bicycle rentals, live entertainment, and wellness classes.
AutoCamp’s integration into Hilton’s booking network further signals the mainstreaming of glamping within the hospitality sector.
Since March 2024, Hilton Honors members have been able to earn and redeem points for AutoCamp stays, expanding the reach of glamping into a broader market. Industry professionals may find opportunities to form similar strategic partnerships to enhance their booking channels and brand visibility.
The company is also planning further expansion beyond California. AutoCamp Asheville, originally scheduled to open in 2023, is now set to launch on September 1 following construction delays caused by Hurricane Helene.
The North Carolina property will feature 67 Airstream suites, six cabins, and additional tented accommodations. A Texas Hill Country location is also in development, with details yet to be announced.
For business owners in the outdoor hospitality space, AutoCamp’s growth trajectory underscores the increasing appeal of upscale, nature-focused accommodations.
The company’s model—pairing unique lodging options with communal amenities and curated experiences—presents key takeaways for operators looking to refine their offerings in response to shifting traveler expectations.
