13 Yosemite Campgrounds Set to Welcome Visitors This Summer

All 13 campgrounds in Yosemite National Park in California will be open this summer, adding about 500 campsites to accommodate high demand during the peak travel season for the first time since 2019.

The additional campsites aim to accommodate high visitor demand and provide more options for overnight stays in one of the nation’s most visited national parks.

According to an article published by Active NorCal, White Wolf Campground is scheduled to reopen June 20, followed by Tamarack Flat on June 23.

Both are located along Tioga Road, a scenic corridor that connects visitors to Yosemite’s high country.

Yosemite Creek Campground will reopen July 1. Reservations for sites 1 through 40 will be available starting Tuesday at 7 a.m.

Bridalveil Creek, Porcupine Flat, and Tuolumne Meadows campgrounds are the final sites awaiting confirmed opening dates.

Park officials reminded visitors that these campgrounds offer limited amenities. White Wolf, Tamarack Flat, and Yosemite Creek do not have drinking water, although vault or portable toilets are provided.

According to its website, Bridalveil Creek Campground sits along Glacier Point Road, nestled in a forest of red fir and lodgepole pine at an elevation of 7,200 feet.

Positioned 7 miles west of Glacier Point and 9 miles east of the Wawona Road turnoff, it is about a 45-minute drive from Yosemite Valley. Visitors have convenient access to the views at Glacier Point and to various hiking trails along the road, though there are no services in the immediate area.

Porcupine Flat Campground, located off Tioga Road about 30 minutes west of Tuolumne Meadows, offers a more primitive experience at 8,100 feet.

Further east, Tuolumne Meadows Campground is the park’s largest, set at 8,000 feet along the Tioga Road near the Tuolumne River.

Open seasonally, it provides summer access to scenic hikes, lakes, and viewpoints, and is about an hour and a half from Yosemite Valley.

Unlike the other sites, basic services such as a store, grill, and post office are available within Tuolumne Meadows.
