Brown & Brown announced that a subsidiary of the insurance brokerage firm has acquired the assets of the J. Kevin Campbell Agency, a Florida-based agency specializing in workers’ compensation insurance solutions.
The transaction was announced by J. Scott Penny, chief acquisitions officer of Brown & Brown, Inc., and Kevin Campbell, principal of the J. Kevin Campbell Agency, Inc., marking the formal integration of the agency into Brown & Brown’s operations.
Founded in 1991 by Kevin Campbell, the Campbell Agency has focused on delivering workers’ compensation insurance solutions for its customers, according to the announcement.
Kian Ostovar joined the Campbell Agency in 2004 and established an office in Gainesville, Florida, to service joint customers across north and central Florida.
As part of the acquisition, Campbell and Ostovar will bring their workers’ compensation experience to Brown & Brown offices in Tampa and Ocala, respectively.
Brown & Brown stated that the addition of the Campbell Agency team aligns with its broader strategy of expanding specialized insurance capabilities.
Mike Keeby, senior vice president of the Retail segment at Brown & Brown, said the agency’s experience was a key factor in the transaction.
“Kevin, Kian and the Campbell Agency team are recognized by carriers and customers for their deep knowledge of the workers’ compensation landscape, and we are excited to bring their collective experience and focus on workers’ compensation insurance solutions to the Brown & Brown team,” Keeby said in a press release.
Campbell characterized the acquisition as a shift from long-standing competition to collaboration between the two organizations.
“For 34 years, we faced each other in the marketplace as competitors,” Campbell said. “Today, we’re proud to stand together as teammates.”
