The Shyft Group initiated shipments of its Blue Arc Class 4 electric vehicles (EVs) to multiple customers, including a parcel delivery company. The announcement underscores Shyft’s efforts to meet growing demand for sustainable commercial vehicle options.
“This is an exciting and proud moment for the Blue Arc team,” John Dunn, president and CEO of the Shyft Group, said in a press release. “What started in 2021 as a bold vision for fleet electrification has become a reality thanks to the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of our team. Together, we’ve delivered a commercial-grade vehicle that meets the demanding standards of our fleet partners and supports their transition to more sustainable fleet operations.”
The Blue Arc Class 4 EV truck is the result of three years of rigorous testing, customer collaboration, and advanced manufacturing processes. It was designed using Shyft’s Work-Driven Design approach, incorporating direct feedback from fleet operators and drivers to ensure reliability, versatility, and user-friendly features.
The truck offers ergonomic seating, a noise-reducing cab, advanced safety systems such as automatic electronic parking brakes and keyless entry with auto-lock, and configurable cargo spaces ranging from 600 to 1,000 cubic feet. These design elements aim to provide adaptable solutions for various fleet applications while maintaining optimal payload and range capabilities.
The transition to full-scale production represents a significant milestone in Shyft’s broader commitment to electrification. Shyft Group’s family of brands includes Blue Arc EV Solutions, Utilimaster, Royal Truck Body, DuraMag, Magnum, and Spartan RV Chassis, among others. The company employs approximately 3,000 individuals across its facilities in the United States and Mexico.
In 2023, Shyft reported $872 million in sales, reflecting the growing market for specialty vehicles.
