Roam America Debuts with a Promise of Providing Modern Outdoor Hospitality

Roam America announced its launch last week, introducing a new hospitality brand aimed at redefining the outdoor adventure experience for modern travelers.

The brand focuses on providing a contemporary RV and campground experience with stylish facilities, pet-friendly accommodations, tech-forward features, and curated local experiences. This initiative caters to a broad audience, including experienced adventurers, RVers, digital nomads, and glampers, offering an updated take on traditional camping.

The company’s flagship property, Roam Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona, soft-opened in 2023, featuring 220 RV spaces, and is set to introduce 12 glamping cabins later this spring. Plans for expansion include opening additional properties near Portland, Oregon, and Park City, Utah, later this year.

Michael Sharf, CEO of Roam America, in a press release, noted the increasing demand for outdoor travel experiences that combine affordability with authenticity, pointing out the need for modernized campgrounds that offer comfort, cleanliness, and convenience.

“The outdoor travel industry has experienced tremendous growth and change in the last few years. More people are looking for affordable and authentic outdoor travel experiences than ever before,” he added.

Roam America aims to standardize service quality across its campgrounds, ensuring a consistent experience for guests that includes spacious and well-maintained facilities, fast and reliable WiFi, and pet-friendly spaces. The brand also seeks to create unique and personal experiences for its guests, with offerings such as outdoor movie nights and live music performances.

Addressing The Need for Modern Campgrounds

In an exclusive interview with Modern Campground, Sharf described Roam America as a new breed of outdoor adventure hospitality, aiming to refresh the traditional camping experience with modern amenities and high-quality accommodations.

“The campground experience by and large has not been updated since the 1950s. Sure we’ve seen the rise of ‘luxury’ campgrounds and campgrounds exclusively geared towards glampers. But for most campers, the campground experience is still dirty, inconsistent, and lacking 21st-century amenities,” Sharf told Modern Campground.

As the outdoor travel industry experiences this boom in popularity, bringing with it a new generation of campers, Roam aims to update the traditional experience with really nice campgrounds, RV parks, and cabins,” he added.

The CEO also highlighted the importance of technology and reliable WiFi for Roam America’s guests, acknowledging the challenge of providing connectivity in remote outdoor locations.

“The best campsites are often in the most beautiful but remote places, which means needing to sacrifice connectivity. And, while disconnecting for a weekend can be reinvigorating and refreshing (we highly recommend it!), it’s just not practical for many of today’s travelers, especially those who travel with their work,” Sharf said.“Updating campground tech to the 21st century was imperative to make Roam a place for digital nomads—or any modern traveler—to truly stay, work and/or play on their terms,” he added.

Commitment to Local Communities

A core principle of Roam America is its commitment to local communities. According to Sharf, Roam America Horseshoe Bend works closely with the City of Page and local businesses to offer authentic local experiences, ensuring guests have access to unique activities and the natural beauty of the area.

“We’ve been working directly with the City of Page to ensure an authentic local experience. In partnership with local tour operators, vendors, and experts, we’re helping to program unique experiences for guests that only Page can offer. Our property also has direct access to hundreds of miles of UTV trails so guests don’t need to go far to get a taste of the beauty of Page,” the CEO highlighted.

When asked about the new amenities and features guests can expect in 2024, Michael Sharf, CEO of Roam America, shared insights about the brand’s upcoming offerings.

“We’re excited to soon open our tiny home cabins,” Sharf said, detailing the premium one-bedroom cabins equipped with a mini kitchen and space to sleep four comfortably, ideal for couples and families seeking a convenient camping experience.

He also highlighted the launch of a calendar of events and experiences, including movie nights, live music performances, and fireside chats with local experts, aiming to enrich the guest experience at Roam America properties.

For the campground and outdoor hospitality industry, Roam America’s launch represents an answer to the demand for modern campgrounds.

By modernizing the camping experience and focusing on quality, convenience, and local engagement, Roam America is poised to set a new standard for outdoor hospitality. This approach not only enhances the guest experience but also encourages sustainable tourism practices and supports local economies.
