According to BLM Alaska, the 500-acre fire is burning between milepost 115-117 on both sides of the highway, just ½ mile from the recreation sites.

During the emergency closure, the public is instructed not to visit the campground or the wayside until the BLM has determined that the use of these locations does not threaten the safety of firefighters or the general public.

Violation of these rules is punishable with a fine of up to $1,000 and imprisonment for up to 12 months, or both (43 CFR SS 9212).

For more information, contact the BLM Central Yukon Field Office at (907) 474-2200.
