Mike and Meeka Fellows conquered the Decatur entrepreneurial competition on Tuesday after pitching their concept for an RV park. Their idea took inspiration from their experiences in purchasing and living in an RV with their 4 children.
According to a report, Selah’s Acres RV Park and Resort Development landed first out of nine finalists in Alabama’s Singing River Trail Launch Tank competition that was modeled after television show “Shark Tank.”
The couple from Madison, Alabama is planning to use their winnings ($5,000) to make their dream a reality with hopes to build the RV park in the northern part of Madison County.
We want Huntsville or Decatur; we want Alabama to feel what we felt every time we went to one of the RV parks,” Meeka said.
She said that RV communities comprise friendly and generous individuals. The couple’s idea came up around two years ago. They plan to add a campground, pool, dog-run area, and tiny homes.
Other finalists presented concepts for a farm built to teach people with special needs to do tasks such as cooking, a tent-making company that would supply 16-foot tents to camp in luxury, and a trail planning and building organization. The competition handed out $24,000 among the finalists.
