Reservations Now Open for Chickasabogue Park’s Renovated Campground

Chickasabogue Park in Alabama has begun accepting reservations for its newly renovated RV campground, with the first campers scheduled to arrive over Labor Day weekend.

The opening marks a key milestone in Mobile County’s efforts to expand outdoor recreation opportunities.

The renovated campground includes a new restroom, shower, and laundry facility. It is designed to accommodate a range of visitors, with 25 RV pads, 12 sites for hard-sided pop-up campers, and nine tent camping sites in designated areas.

Reservations for the campground are now open and can be made in advance online.

“We’re delighted to expand access to one of Mobile County’s greatest natural treasures with this new RV campground,” District 1 Commissioner Merceria Ludgood said, as reported by NBC 15 News on August 22.

“We encourage everyone to come experience Chickasabogue Park, whether for day-use or camping, and discover why it’s one of Mobile County’s greatest assets,” Ludgood added.

Chickasabogue Park is located at 760 Aldock Road in Eight Mile, less than 15 minutes from Mobile.

The site spans 1,100 acres, making it the largest park in the county. It functions both as a recreation area and as a protected wildlife refuge.

The park also features 13 miles of biking and hiking trails, two 18-hole disc golf courses, multi-use courts, picnic pavilions, a playground, a splash pad, and a beach along Chickasabogue Creek.

The RV campground’s debut follows the park’s broader reopening on Feb. 23, after major renovations funded through the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA). “Part of the local conservation plan is to increase public access to shoreline recreational areas, such as along the Chickasabogue Creek,” the park’s website indicates.

Future projects are also planned. Using RESTORE Act funds, the county will renovate the park’s beach area and build a new boat ramp, expanding access to Chickasabogue Creek and Mobile

Long-term development plans include the construction of an events and interpretive center.
