Looking for a place to settle as the seasons change? Alabama might be the perfect place for you!
As per a release from Florida / Alabama RV Park and Campground Association, more and more snowbirds heading to Florida are staying in Alabama, sometimes for days or weeks at a time. Some even prefer to stay in Alabama.
Price is a factor, with Alabama parks generally being cheaper than those parks in popular destinations for snowbirds in Florida. Another factor is availability.
It’s easier to find an available RV site in Alabama at the last minute, even in winter,” said Thomas Sparrow, chairman of the Florida / Alabama RV Park and Campground Association.
“Alabama is one of the few places in the Sunbelt where you can still show up at the last minute in winter and get a site,” Sparrow added.
Alabama Ark operators are keen to expand their winter business.
“We would like to get more snowbirds,” said Mindy Newell, who co-owns and operates The Kick Back Ranch in Ramer. The park has 44 RV sites, a few cabin rentals as well a 4,000-square-foot event center with a dining hall and full restaurant. The park also has five lakes with canoe and paddleboat rentals.
