Alabama state parks are taking camping to a new level with the introduction of glamping at six of its parks. Glamping provides all the necessary amenities to campers without bringing their tents.
As per a report, the new glamping sites will offer visitors a unique and comfortable experience, complete with beds, linens, electricity, and air conditioning/heaters. The concept of glamping is increasingly popular among outdoor enthusiasts who want to experience the great outdoors without compromising on comfort.
The first glamping site will be available at Wind Creek State Park on Lake Martin near Alexander City from April 21. Chewacla near Auburn will follow by mid-May, Lake Guntersville by Memorial Day, and Cheaha (near Anniston), DeSoto (near Fort Payne), and Monte Sano (in Huntsville) this summer.
Alabama State Parks has partnered with Timberline Glamping to manage and operate the new sites. The company, founded in 2018, already offers glamping at multiple sites in Georgia and Florida, including several state parks.
“We strive to offer the very best experience to every guest,” said Chris Blankenship, commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, in the announcement.
“Glamping has become increasingly popular during the last few years, and we often field questions from people asking if we offer it. We already have many other types of overnight options for our guests, so it made sense for us to add glamping as a new amenity. This is another exciting way people can enjoy the amazing scenic beauty available at our Alabama State Parks.”
Reservations for Wind Creek glamping sites can be made on the Timberline website. Once other Alabama state parks offer glamping, visitors can also make reservations on both the Timberline and state parks websites.
“Not everyone wants to stay in a hotel-style room at one of our resorts, and not everyone wants to sleep on the ground at a primitive campsite,” Blankenship said. “These glamping sites provide something new for our guests, and we believe they will embrace and enjoy this additional overnight option.”
With this new amenity, Alabama state parks are set to attract new visitors looking for a unique and comfortable way to experience the great outdoors. Glamping provides a perfect opportunity for travelers to enjoy nature without compromising on comfort, and Alabama’s new glamping sites could attract more visitors and bring an economic boost.
