FRVCA’s Cornwell: Business is Great, 2022 Looking Like Another Record-Breaking Year

Business has been great, and 2022 is looking like another record-breaking year.”

That’s what Florida and Alabama RV Park & Campground Association (FRVCA) President and CEO Bobby Cornwell said in a newsletter containing a special message to over 400 of its members.

With more and more people showing interest in the RV lifestyle, manufacturers are working even harder to meet the demand. The RV Industry Association (RVIA) recorded a total of almost 560,000 units delivered towards the end of November last year.

A continued increase is anticipated through 2022, with shipments between 599,760 to 627,700 units tallying to a likely total of 613,700 units, an increase of 1.9 percent over 2021.

Consequently, the demand for more spaces in RV parks and campgrounds is increasing as the number of RVers balloons. In fact, many of the association’s member campgrounds were booked 100% for the season by early November, Cornwell shared in the newsletter.

Along with the good news, he also declared that more and more young families are joining snowbirds in booking RV sites.

“It’s quite exciting to see this shift happening, the kids and families spending quality time together, experiencing the great outdoors, and loving the RV lifestyle,” said Cornwell.

Throughout the pandemic, families have discovered new ways to get out. FRVCA’s president and CEO said that the challenges over the past two years have brought families closer together and opened their eyes to new opportunities. He also said that it changed and enhanced family values and the meaning of time spent together.

Cornwell also highlighted the success of the association’s websites (Camp Florida and Camp Alabama), citing recent analytics of a 22.6% increase in user sessions on CampFlorida.com from 2021 with over 688,395 unique users in 2021. Pageviews also grew by almost 1 million more in 2021 over the prior year.

To keep the momentum, he said that the association will be encouraging more people to camp and discover RVing as it promotes members’ parks and the Camp Florida and Camp Alabama brands at upcoming Florida RV Shows.

“The association is poised to propel the growth of our industry and your business even further, and I promise we will continue to provide you with the legal guidance, legislative services, marketing, and promotional solutions, and many other benefits that only an organization with our history and specific knowledge of the Florida and Alabama RV park industry can provide,” Cornwell said.

With reports and data from the RVIA and various sources suggesting the influx in RV demand resulting to record bookings and sales, business indeed has really been great.

The FRVCA has been serving the Florida industry for over 55 years and Alabama for almost 20 years.
