With high temperatures continuing across much of the Eastern United States, Spacious Skies Campgrounds is highlighting 15 activities at its locations to help guests beat the heat while enjoying the outdoors.
The company, which operates campgrounds from Maine to Georgia, is also offering seasonal promotions to encourage summer travel.
The network’s 15 properties include destinations in farmland, forests, mountains, and near historic towns and urban centers.
Each location features distinct amenities, from themed craft programs to water-based attractions, designed to appeal to a range of campers and glampers.
In Fayetteville, N.C., families visiting Spacious Skies Sandy Run can participate in the Cosmic Kids Craft Center, which offers activities such as building miniature “snowmen” and making light-up fireflies.
Crafts change monthly to reflect “cosmic themes,” with August’s “Astro Adventures” focusing on skies- and stars-related events.
At Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks in Georgia, guests can take 90-minute trolley tours through downtown Savannah, visiting landmarks such as the Green-Meldrim House and the Mercer-Williams House. The campground is located 20 minutes from the city center, making it a strategic base for exploring.
Spacious Skies Bear Den in Spruce Pine, N.C., offers access to hiking trails in Pisgah National Forest, where visitors can explore waterfalls and swim in the property’s on-site lake. In Luray, Va., Spacious Skies Shenandoah Views is minutes from Hawksville Brewing Co., which uses locally sourced hops, honey, and blackberries in its beers.
Several properties highlight proximity to water. Spacious Skies Country Oaks in Dorothy, N.J., is within 20 miles of the Atlantic Ocean and offers access to kayaking, boating, and fishing. Spacious Skies Walnut Grove in Alfred, Maine, is near the Old Orchard Beach Pier and Palace Playland amusement park, while Spacious Skies Minute Man in Littleton, Mass., is close to Boston Harbor Cruises and Codzilla speed boat tours.
Astronomy enthusiasts visiting Spacious Skies Balsam Woods in Abbot, Maine, can take advantage of minimal light pollution near Moosehead Lake to view the Milky Way. Water activities are a central feature at Spacious Skies Seven Maples in Hancock, N.H., which has a large waterslide and on-site trout fishing, and at Spacious Skies Hidden Creek in Marion, N.C., where a Jr. Olympic-size pool is available.
Some campgrounds connect guests with local history and shopping. Spacious Skies Belle Ridge in Monterey, Tenn., links to the Civil War Trail, while Spacious Skies Peach Haven in Gaffney, S.C., is minutes from the Gaffney Outlet Marketplace. Spacious Skies French Pond in Concord, N.H., offers an arcade game room for indoor entertainment.
For slower-paced activities, Spacious Skies Woodland Hills in Austerlitz, N.Y., rents paddleboats for its on-site lake and offers catch-and-release fishing. Spacious Skies Adirondack Peaks in North Hudson, N.Y., provides a nostalgic camping atmosphere with miniature golf, a rec hall, and a riverside beach.
To encourage travel, the “Escape for Two, Pay for One” promotion is available at 10 participating locations through Aug. 29, allowing guests to stay two nights for the price of one. Stays must be completed by Oct. 31.
The company also operates the Spacious Skies Campgrounds Loyalty Program, which offers members a 12% lodging discount, a Cosmic Camper pin, exclusive merchandise releases, and updates on programs.
The annual membership fee is $31.90, and the discount cannot be combined with other offers, with the greater discount always honored.
Spacious Skies Campgrounds provides RV sites at each location, along with glamping accommodations such as yurts, cabins, and retro-style trailers.
