Southern Sands Signature RV Resort has been named the recipient of the Best Park Award in the medium park category by the Florida RV Park and Campground Association.
The recognition was announced on May 8 during the awards dinner held at the Florida and Alabama Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando.
The award is part of a program that evaluates RV parks and campgrounds across the state, recognizing top-performing properties in various size categories.
The medium park category includes parks with between 151 and 250 campsites. Southern Sands, which opened in February, offers 184 RV sites with full hookups.
“Our intent with these awards is to recognize the best parks in each category, as determined by our independent panel of judges,” said Bobby Cornwell, executive director and CEO of the Florida RV Park and Campground Association.
The association, which represents more than 500 campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts across Florida, also operates CampFlorida.com, a travel planning resource for RV travelers.
To qualify for the award, parks must meet a range of criteria, including high standards for business operations, customer service, and staff conduct.
Judging also considers maintenance, amenities, guest services, online reviews, occupancy trends, and the incorporation of new technologies or facility improvements that enhance the guest experience.
Southern Sands features several amenities, including a clubhouse equipped with a fitness center and game room, five pickleball courts, a beach-entry swimming pool, and a dog park with a wash station.
Guests can participate in themed events, arts and crafts workshops, and poolside gatherings. The resort also offers fishing opportunities and access to local excursions.
Located near Arcadia’s historic downtown, the resort is close to local events such as the All-Florida Championship Rodeo in March, the Annual Watermelon Festival, and a range of car shows, parades, and community celebrations throughout the year.
