Andean Debuts Tinajani Camp in 300-Year-Old Canyon Between Cusco and Lake Titicaca

A new high-altitude retreat in southern Peru is opening its doors, offering travelers a remote and culturally immersive experience in one of the country’s lesser-traveled regions.

Tinajani Camp, located in a 300-year-old canyon between Cusco, Lake Titicaca, and the Colca Valley, is the latest addition to the Andean hospitality brand’s collection of accommodations designed to reflect the natural and cultural heritage of the Andes.

The camp is comprised of six tented campsites, each equipped with two tents—one for sleeping and one for relaxation—as well as private outdoor decks with hot tubs intended for stargazing under the Andean night sky.

According to Travel and Tour World, the site covers over 300 acres of rugged terrain and offers seclusion for travelers seeking an escape into Peru’s high-altitude wilderness.

Tinajani joins Andean’s portfolio of properties, which includes a range of accommodations across Peru that aim to blend cultural authenticity with modern comfort.

These include Cirqa, a converted 16th-century monastery in Arequipa’s UNESCO-listed city center, as well as Puqio, another tented camp in the Colca Valley that allows guests to explore the surrounding highland landscapes.

The brand also operates Titilaka, a lakeside lodge perched 4,000 meters above sea level on the shores of Lake Titicaca, where guests can engage with local Quechua and Aymara communities.

In urban Lima, Andean has established two boutique properties in Miraflores: Atemporal, located in a refurbished 1940s Tudor-style home, and Fausto, a modern hotel with a rooftop terrace and contemporary design elements.

A seventh Andean property is scheduled to open by late 2026, continuing the company’s mission to support local communities and preserve cultural traditions across the Andean region.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality, glamping, and eco-tourism sectors, Tinajani Camp provides a noteworthy example of high-end experiential travel development in a remote setting.

The camp’s integration of minimalist infrastructure, local cultural connection, and natural immersion underscores growing demand for sustainable, small-footprint lodging in underrepresented destinations.

As consumer interest continues to shift toward culturally meaningful and environmentally responsible travel, Tinajani’s model offers insights into how luxury and low-impact tourism can be harmonized.
