The San Antonio/Alamo KOA Holiday in Texas has introduced a series of new amenities aimed at improving guest comfort and convenience, with several more upgrades scheduled for completion this year.
The enhancements come as part of the campground’s continued investment in its 40-acre property, which has served campers for more than five decades.
Among the most notable additions is the Glamping Rambler, a fully equipped unit offering a queen bed, full daybed, private bathroom, and kitchenette. Designed to appeal to guests seeking outdoor experiences with indoor comforts, the Glamping Rambler reflects KOA’s response to changing camper expectations.
Additional improvements include a playground. The campground also opened a maintenance shop to provide staff with a centralized, organized facility for tool storage and equipment upkeep, enhancing operational efficiency.
“This campground has been a part of our family for over 55 years,” Sterling Rohde, owner of the San Antonio/Alamo KOA Holiday, said in a press release.
“We take great pride in creating a memorable experience for every camper, and after years of planning, we’re thrilled to launch these upgrades and continue building on the legacy of our campground,” Rohde added.
The campground, named KOA’s Campground of the Year in 2015, is also upgrading existing accommodations. One Deluxe Cabin and one Kamping Kabin have been recently renovated, offering updated lodging options for guests.
Future developments set for 2025 include the addition of a KOA Signature Site, which will feature an expanded KOA Patio with covered seating, an upgraded grilling area, and a signature fire experience.
A second Paw Pen Site will be added to complement the existing pet-friendly KOA Private Patio Site. Both new sites are expected to open later this year.
The upgrades are aligned with findings from KOA’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, which highlights increasing guest interest in elevated site experiences and comfort-driven outdoor stays.
Currently, the campground offers over 230 sites for accommodations, RVs, and tent camping.
On-site amenities include a 4,000-square-foot KampK9 dog park, a year-round pool, games such as Ping Pong and Foosball, a gaga ball pit, and a full-service laundry facility.
Guests can also enjoy dining options such as Hunt Brothers Pizza, a snack bar, and a Café serving made-to-order breakfast items.
A camp store and 50-amp electric sites add further convenience for travelers.
Located at 602 Gembler Road in San Antonio, the campground continues to serve as a year-round destination for families, road trippers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
