RV camping enthusiasts are celebrating a new place to stay in the Midlands of South Carolina. Just a mile from the State Farmers Market, the new Big Rig Friendly RV Resort is a hidden nature’s retreat, just minutes from three interstates, ten minutes to downtown Columbia and the University of South Carolina, also with easy access to many local attractions such as golf, shopping, dining, and Lake Murray.
The duo behind the new Big Rig Friendly RV Resort are quickly becoming industry leaders in the region, according to a press release. Owners Bill Mcleod and D. Melton have built three campgrounds since 2011. Their shared background in residential real estate development and passion for the outdoors launched a friendship and partnership that is making South Carolina a premier destination for RV travelers.
Nearly two years in the making, Big Rig Friendly RV Resort is getting attention from RV owners near and far for its convenient location and extra-large pull-through sites.
“This will offer something different than what you find at other parks,” says Melton. “My experience building the first two resorts is helping me with the design and construction of this one.” Bill McLeod, D’s business partner, said that Melton is one of the more knowledgeable persons in this field in the southeast. Melton also serves on the Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CARVC) board.
Big Rig Friendly RV Resort will be approximately 270 sites ranging from 75 to 120 feet when all phases are complete. The pull-through sites fit any size RV with dedicated areas for nightly, weekly, and long-term RVers. The park is designed to handle the newer, large RVs that many older parks can’t.
The developers also have many amenities planned, including a zero-entry pool, gym, a dog park, pickleball, basketball courts, playground, walking trails, and gathering room.
“We are building a destination RV resort RV owners will love to come back to year after year,” Melton added. This RV resort is sure to make Columbia a popular destination for RVers from all over the country.
The owners are excited to announce Phase 1 of Big Rig Friendly RV Resort is now open for business. Keep up with Big Rig Friendly’s latest events and development by following their Facebook and Instagram pages or their website bigrigfriendly.com.
