OWA Parks and Resort in Foley, Alabama, a development owned by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, has added several new business partners and attractions as part of its ongoing expansion.

New additions include Aura Adventures, an outdoor activity operator; Neon Rebellion, a laser tag facility; Jon Smith Subs; and the Bikini Blini Bakery. These join the resort’s existing offerings, which include an RV resort, a hotel, and the Tropic Falls water theme park.

To support continued growth, OWA has appointed David Holmin as its new director of internal and leasing, according to a statement released by the resort.

These local developments are part of a broader strategy by the Poarch Band to strengthen its economic footprint through diversification and acquisition.

In April 2025, the tribe finalized its acquisition of the Birmingham Racecourse via Wind Creek Hospitality, with plans to develop the site into a destination resort. This move underscores the tribe’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence in both the hospitality and entertainment sectors.

In addition to its resort development projects, the Poarch Band is growing its federal contracting operations, according to Tribal Business News

In June 2025, its federal contracting arm, Poarch Creek Indians Federal, acquired Street Legal Industries Inc., a company that provides federal infrastructure services with a focus on environmental, health, and safety capabilities.

This followed its April 2025 acquisition of Superlative Technologies, a cybersecurity firm that held $78.8 million in Defense Department contracts from 2022 to 2024.

The Poarch Band, recognized as the only federally acknowledged tribe in Alabama, reported generating more than $4 billion in economic impact across the state in 2023. The tribe currently supports over 7,400 direct jobs in multiple U.S. states and the Caribbean.

For outdoor hospitality business owners, OWA’s growth offers insights into how destination resorts can diversify through a mix of family-friendly attractions, food services, and partnerships.

The integration of a laser tag business, specialty food vendors, and water-based recreation complements the existing RV and hotel accommodations, potentially increasing dwell time and customer spend per visit.

The addition of experienced leadership in leasing also signals opportunities for other vendors and entrepreneurs to participate in the growing resort ecosystem.
