Northside Farm Adds New Accommodation Following £200K Investment

Northside Farm, a wedding and glamping venue located in Horsley, Northumberland, has introduced a new on-site accommodation unit as part of a continued effort to diversify and enhance its offerings.

The latest development includes a newly renovated two-bedroom cottage, a dedicated office space, and extensive landscaping improvements. The expansion was self-funded through a £200,000 investment.

Established in 2012 as a luxury glamping site, Northside Farm expanded its services in 2016 with the opening of a barn wedding venue.

Since then, the business has grown steadily, adding four fairy-tale cottages in 2018 and a feature space known as the Gin Gang in 2019.

The venue has received recognition within the wedding industry, including the North of England Wedding Awards in 2020 and 2021 and the Bridebook Wedding Awards Venue of the Year in the North East.

The newest addition to the site is a cottage that combines modern amenities with a rustic aesthetic.

The accommodation includes a spacious lounge, contemporary kitchen, and stylish bathroom, intended to serve guests attending weddings, corporate events, or private celebrations.

According to owners Olivia and Ralph Lockey, the development was designed with guest experience in mind.

“We have poured our hearts into this project, ensuring every detail enhances our guests’ experience,” they told Hexham Courant

“We are always looking to evolve our offerings, whether providing a truly unique wedding setting or a corporate space tailored for team-building and special occasions. Northside Farm adapts to every guest’s vision.”

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality and glamping industries, Northside Farm’s approach demonstrates how a phased and targeted expansion strategy—grounded in reinvestment and responsiveness to market demand—can build a sustainable business model.

The integration of diversified accommodations such as event-specific cottages and the addition of flexible-use spaces illustrates a method for meeting multiple guest segments, including wedding parties, corporate groups, and leisure travelers.

By leveraging its rural setting and continuously investing in the guest experience, Northside Farm has positioned itself to remain competitive in a sector where consumer expectations for comfort and uniqueness are rising.
