Normandy Farms Campground Ranks Fifth Among USA Today’s Luxury RV Resorts

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Normandy Farms Campground has secured the No. 5 slot on the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice list of luxury RV resorts, underscoring how full-service amenities are increasingly influencing guest expectations across the outdoor-hospitality sector.

Separately, the Foxborough park landed at No. 3 on The Dyrt survey of top Northeast camping spots, giving the operation cross-platform validation at a time when travelers are comparing resorts on online review sites.

“Luxury to us doesn’t mean price, it means accommodations,” said Marcia Galvin, the campground’s human resources director. Her definition is backed by piped-music bathrooms with hair dryers, a trout-stocked fishing pond, four swimming pools, an acre-and-a-half dog park and a wellness center that includes massage and skincare services, according to a recent CBS profile.

Those marquee touches come with a playbook that focuses on payback as much as polish. Successful operators start every capital project with a target guest segment and breakeven plan; stack fee-based extras such as spa treatments, mountain-bike rentals or day-use passes on top of headline features; combine offerings into themed bundles that fill shoulder-season weekends; track utilization through simple point-of-sale codes; designate one manager to oversee scheduling and cross-promotion; and reinforce five-star cues through spotless restrooms, fresh pool towels and proactive staff greetings.

The Galvin family has space to deploy that strategy. “We’re at 400 campsites on a hundred acres of land and ten generations of family,” Galvin said, noting that the campground opened in 1971 on farmland first acquired in 1759. Lodging options stretch from tent pads and RV pull-throughs to yurts, teepees and luxury safari tents.

Guests respond to the breadth of activities. “It has it all: large campsites, tons of activities for kids [including] bike track, frisbee, tons of games, multiple playgrounds, multiple pools, daily crafts,” wrote camper Jay in a review cited by The Dyrt.

Serving that many visitors across 100 acres demands a seamless technology backbone. Parks aspiring to the same standard typically deploy high-speed Wi-Fi property-wide; run an integrated reservation system with dynamic pricing and automated upsells; offer mobile or kiosk check-in; push text or app notifications for events and weather alerts; solicit instant post-stay surveys; and review booking data quarterly to close midweek or shoulder-season gaps.

Normandy Farms keeps the conversation going online as well. “We are so thrilled to have placed 5th in USA Today’s 10 Best Luxury RV Resorts list! Thank you so much for all of your support,” the campground wrote in a celebratory Facebook post that doubled as a real-time loyalty touchpoint.

Location amplifies the value proposition. The resort sits about five miles from Gillette Stadium and midway between Boston and Cape Cod, giving travelers direct lines to Plymouth, Newport and Mystic, Conn. Savvy owners may formalize partnerships with nearby attractions to lengthen average stays.

Heritage remains a core part of the brand story. “I’m so blessed to be part of a tradition that has been in our family since 1759,” Galvin said, adding that her one-year-old granddaughter represents the property’s 10th generation.

The campground operates April 1 through Nov. 15. Nightly rates run $82–$154 for campsites and $77–$151 for RV sites, with Galvin noting, “You can camp in a tent with no water or electric hookup if you’d like and that’s very affordable.” Pricing transparency—and the flexibility to adjust it dynamically—helps balance luxury positioning with value access.

Normandy Farms shares USA Today’s luxury roster with regional peers such as Bar Harbor/Oceanside KOA in Maine and Brattleboro North KOA in Vermont, a reminder that New England’s upscale RV market appears to be growing. The 10Best finalists are chosen by travel experts and then ranked by public vote, while The Dyrt’s list draws on tens of thousands of user reviews.

“One hundred acres of recreation enjoyment is kind of hard to find these days,” Galvin said. With award season fresh in mind, the question for park owners and operators is straightforward: how will you elevate your amenity game before next spring’s guests arrive?
