Mendocino Grove Marks 10 Years of Glamping with Continued Enhancements

Mendocino Grove, a glamping destination located just south of Mendocino, California, is marking its tenth anniversary this year.

Since opening in 2014, the property has continued to evolve through a series of upgrades aimed at enhancing the guest experience while maintaining its connection to the natural environment.

Camp Manager Danielle Masters, during a recent tour of the property, highlighted several of the enhancements that have been made over the years.

Among them are amenities catering to pet owners, including an off-leash area and a dedicated dog-washing station. “Cleaning sand off paws, that was definitely a need,” Masters said in a report by Fort Bragg Advocate-News.

The guest experience is further enriched by thoughtful touches such as board games and books available for checkout at the camp store.

Masters noted these offerings support the camp’s appeal to visitors looking to unplug from digital devices. To help guests stay comfortable in the region’s often cool and foggy climate, the site includes a dry sauna.

While individual tents are not equipped with heaters due to limited electrical capacity reserved for lighting and charging electronics, heating pads are provided to keep beds warm.

Mendocino Grove’s lodging infrastructure is continually updated. According to Masters, the tents are improved not only for guest comfort but also for ease of maintenance.

At the end of each season—typically in late November—the tents are disassembled and stored carefully until reopening in April.

Although May is considered a shoulder season, the campground was operating at 80 percent booking capacity going into Mother’s Day weekend.

A recent addition to the amenities is the “Redwood Showers,” which are open to the sky and constructed from locally kilned wood.

The new facility replaced a metal building and is designed to provide a unique outdoor shower experience. “It’s especially wonderful under the stars,” said Masters. “And yes, we’ve always had great water pressure.”

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality industry, Mendocino Grove’s decade of sustained success underscores the value of continuous improvement and attention to guest needs.

The camp’s evolving offerings—ranging from pet-friendly features to creative comfort solutions—demonstrate how strategic reinvestment can extend the lifecycle of seasonal accommodations and drive high occupancy even during off-peak times.
