Adventures on the Gorge (AOTG), a resort in Southern West Virginia, is launching a seasonal discount offering up to 50% off on overnight accommodations starting November 1. Situated on 350 scenic acres near Fayetteville, the resort overlooks the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, providing a tranquil retreat for winter travelers and those seeking a quiet getaway during the cooler months.
The winter season, as described by AOTG’s general manager Roger Wilson, marks a period of relaxation after the high-energy events of Gauley River rafting and the popular Bridge Day festivities. These activities, including sanctioned BASE jumping from the iconic New River Gorge Bridge, draw crowds annually.
“Winter season is our opportunity to catch our breath,” Wilson noted, emphasizing the slower pace and serene surroundings that define the resort during this time.
Located within convenient driving distance from major cities like Charlotte, Cincinnati, and Washington, D.C., Adventures on the Gorge appeals to a wide range of visitors. For those seeking proximity to outdoor adventure and scenic beauty without long-distance travel, the resort’s accessibility has proven attractive.
With an array of activities, the resort caters to various outdoor interests, including hiking, rock climbing, and seasonal whitewater rafting. This winter, guests can also experience AOTG’s TreeTops Canopy Tours, a zipline attraction available for groups of four or more, which offers an elevated view of the surrounding landscape and a unique adventure even during the colder months.
The nearby National Park Service Canyon Rim Visitor Center enriches the visitor experience with interpretive exhibits, showcasing the area’s natural history, flora, and fauna. The park’s Endless Wall Trail, celebrated for its stunning views, has been recognized as one of the best hikes in the national park system. Additionally, the New River Gorge Bridge and its Bridge Walk tour provide memorable photo opportunities and an engaging way for guests to learn about the region.
The seasonal discount on accommodations is available through April 30, 2025, allowing guests to experience the area’s winter and early spring offerings. The range of lodging options includes different styles and configurations, catering to varying guest preferences and needs.
Among the accommodations offered are the Sunnyside Suites, which are situated adjacent to the resort’s campground and equipped with decks, kitchenettes, and other comforts. These suites, available in two configurations, offer a cozy, convenient option with close access to the resort’s amenities.
The Sportsman Cabins provide a more rustic experience, accommodating larger groups with multiple beds and essential amenities. With Wi-Fi access, picnic tables, and fire rings, these cabins are designed to foster a communal outdoor experience.
AOTG’s newer offerings include the Kaymoor Cabins and Kaymoor Cabin Suites, which combine modern conveniences with a natural setting. Each cabin features king beds, Wi-Fi, and step-in showers, with suites offering additional sleeping space via pull-out couches.
The Outback Cabins, available in one- and two-bedroom options, offer amenities that include fully equipped kitchens, private decks with hot tubs, and other conveniences.
For larger groups or families, AOTG’s Deluxe Cabins offer two-, three-, or four-bedroom layouts equipped with comprehensive amenities, including full kitchens, private decks, and outdoor cooking facilities.
