Whitemead Forest Park Invests £95K in Glamping Pod Upgrades

Whitemead Forest Park in the Forest of Dean has completed a £95,000 refurbishment project aimed at upgrading its glamping accommodations. The investment focused on enhancing 15 of the site’s pods located in an area known as The Hollow, including four ‘Megapod Deluxes’ and 11 ‘Megapod Premiers’.

The Megapod Deluxes underwent a comprehensive renovation that included new ensuite facilities, flooring, beds, soft furnishings, and updated headboards. Custom woodwork with built-in lighting and storage features has also been added.

According to a report by Gloucestershire Live, these units can accommodate up to four guests. The refurbishment was carried out in partnership with Calico Interiors, a design firm based in Gloucestershire.

The Megapod Premiers, which also sleep four, received updates in the form of fresh paint and new furnishings. In addition to the upgraded Megapods, Whitemead continues to offer other glamping options such as B&B Pods for two and standard Megapods for four.

Lauren Bynon, revenue and reservations manager at Whitemead Forest Park, commented on the improvements, stating: “Our newly renovated glamping pods offer a luxurious alternative to traditional camping, combining the charm of the great outdoors with the comfort of home.

With the forest right on your doorstep, all you need to bring are the essentials. They’re ideal for couples, families or friends looking for a stylish and memorable getaway. Each pod comes with an outdoor picnic area and parking for one car, so guests can explore as much or as little as they like, whatever the weather.”

The upgrades come as Whitemead launches its “Spring into Summer” sale, which offers 20% off select breaks taken between April 28 and July 28, including during the May half-term. To qualify for the discount, bookings must be made by May 5.

Whitemead Forest Park, owned by Boundless—a membership club for current and retired public sector and civil service workers—offers a range of accommodation beyond glamping, including apartments, bungalows with hot tubs, and forest log cabins.

On-site facilities include a heated swimming pool, spa pools, sauna, steam room, and gym. Boundless members receive up to 20% off standard prices or an additional 10% off existing discounted rates, with memberships starting at £40 per year.

For outdoor hospitality business owners, this refurbishment highlights a continued trend in the glamping sector: reinvesting in existing infrastructure to enhance guest experience and remain competitive in a growing market.

The integration of design-forward features and flexible accommodations reflects a strategic move to appeal to both new and returning visitors seeking a balance between nature and comfort.
