Under the Oak: A Farm Retreat with Rustic Charm and Modern Comforts

The outdoor hospitality landscape in South Wales has gained a notable addition with luxury safari tents and restored railway wagons in Bedwas, Caerphilly.

Situated on a working farm, Under the Oak’s accommodations provide a blend of rustic charm and modern amenities, catering to a variety of travelers seeking a countryside retreat.

The safari tents, named Dan y Dderwen (Under the Oak), Y Draenen Wen (The White Thorn), and Dan y Ffawydden (Under the Beech), are designed to accommodate different group sizes and preferences.

Dan y Dderwen and Y Draenen Wen sleep up to four guests, featuring a box bed adorned with fairy lights and a daybed that converts into a double bed. Families with younger children are advised to be cautious as these tents are located near an unfenced pond.

For larger groups, Dan y Ffawydden offers space for six guests, with two double beds and a bunk set. This tent is located away from the water, providing ample space for children to play.

According to Wales Online, all three safari tents are equipped with private wood-fired hot tubs, adding an extra layer of relaxation to the stay.

Each tent includes a well-appointed interior with sofas, dining areas, books, and games, complemented by a wood-burning stove for colder evenings.

Fully functioning bathrooms feature hotel-like amenities, including a hot shower, flushing toilet, and plush towels. Kitchens are equipped with cooking essentials, and guests have the option to pre-order food hampers for convenience.

Additionally, the property offers two restored railway wagons, Cynefin and Cartref, ideal for couples. These units combine vintage aesthetics with modern comforts, such as en-suite bathrooms, compact kitchens, and wood-burning stoves.

Each wagon also features an outdoor fire pit and private hot tub, enhancing the serene atmosphere.

The accommodations welcome dogs for an additional fee, with amenities such as a dog bowl and basket provided. Guests can enjoy scenic views from the covered verandas or gather around fire pits for outdoor meals and marshmallow toasting.

For more information and bookings, visitors are encouraged to explore the offerings through the Under the Oak website.
