Two Welsh Campsites Named Among Europe’s Best for Families in Pitchup.com Awards

Two campsites in Anglesey, Wales—Presaddfed and Campio Andy Camping—have received top recognition for family-friendliness in the 2024 Pitchup.com Review Awards, placing them among the leading camping destinations in the UK and Europe.

Their inclusion highlights a growing appreciation for rural, low-impact sites that appeal to families and nature-oriented travelers, presenting opportunities for other operators in the outdoor hospitality sector.

According to WalesOnline, Presaddfed, located in Bodedern, received an overall rating of 9.6 and a child-friendly rating of 9.7. The site is positioned on a working farm and promotes a tranquil environment, enforcing a quiet rule after 9:30 p.m.

While the amenities include four private shower rooms and a well-equipped facilities block, the site largely emphasizes self-guided experiences.

Situated near Neolithic tombs and woodland trails, Presaddfed is marketed as ideal for history enthusiasts and wildlife lovers, with red squirrel sightings among the local attractions. Its proximity to Trearddur Bay and Eryri (Snowdonia) enhances its appeal as a base for day trips.

Campio Andy Camping in Dwyran received an even higher overall rating of 9.9 and matched Presaddfed’s 9.7 child-friendly score.

This tents-only site offers grass pitches with views of Eryri, flushable toilets, cold outdoor showers, and allows barbecues.

Unique experiences, such as private falconry demonstrations, distinguish it from conventional offerings.

The site benefits from its nearby access to Traeth Llanddwyn and the village of Niwbwrch, and is strategically located next to a petrol station and bus stop—factors that may contribute to convenience-oriented guest satisfaction.

For business owners and site managers in the outdoor hospitality space, the recognition of these rural, minimal-intervention sites indicates continued demand for simple, authentic camping experiences that combine access to nature with essential comforts.

Operators may consider incorporating local wildlife interactions, quiet policies, and family-focused amenities to meet this growing market.

Additionally, highlighting regional heritage, offering proximity to nature reserves or outdoor attractions, and investing in key infrastructure, such as clean facilities and basic transport access, can enhance guest satisfaction and review scores.

Other high-ranking sites in the 2024 awards include Hill Farm Camping, which received perfect scores in both overall and child-friendly categories, and RCN Vakantiepark de Flaasbloem in the Netherlands with a 9.4 rating.

In the UK, Peak View Gardens in Somerset scored 9.7, while Rhea Farm and Fishery in Devon earned a 9.8.

With online review platforms increasingly influencing consumer decisions, these accolades serve as valuable benchmarks for industry professionals seeking to optimize their offerings and improve guest retention through strategic enhancements.
