Three Lake District Holiday Parks Retain Five-Star VisitEngland Ratings

Three holiday parks in the Lake District have retained their five-star ratings following recent assessments by VisitEngland’s Quality Scheme.

The recognition was awarded to Fallbarrow, Limefitt, and White Cross Bay, all operated by Parkdean Resorts, which now has eight sites holding the top classification.

The assessments, completed in 2025, evaluated cleanliness, presentation, and overall guest experience. Inspectors also highlighted the parks’ locations, noting their proximity to rivers, lakes, and the surrounding landscape.

Limefitt Holiday Park was commended for its pub, The Haybarn Inn, which has undergone refurbishments with new flooring, furniture, and an upgraded outdoor seating area featuring heaters.

At Fallbarrow, The Willow Bar and Restaurant was praised for modern décor, new carpeting, and varied seating, alongside accessibility improvements and the addition of a pool table.

White Cross Bay received recognition for its gym facilities, which inspectors described as well-presented with updated equipment and carpeting. The site’s swimming pool, sauna, steam room, arcade, and changing rooms were also identified as well-maintained.

Toby Durston, regional director at Parkdean Resorts, told The Westmorland Gazette

“It’s wonderful to receive such positive feedback from VisitEngland. We’re always striving to give our holidaymakers the best experience possible, so we’re pleased to see that the hard work and effort put in by the team has been awarded so highly.”

The three Lake District sites also received Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards earlier in 2025, placing them among the top 10 percent of businesses worldwide that consistently earn strong visitor reviews.

For holiday park operators and industry professionals, the recognition highlights the role of consistent investment in guest-facing facilities, such as restaurants, gyms, and entertainment amenities, as well as behind-the-scenes attention to cleanliness and maintenance.

VisitEngland’s scheme, which provides independent assessments, is a tool businesses can leverage to benchmark quality standards, attract guests, and secure repeat visitation.

As travelers continue to seek both comfort and reliable service, maintaining high inspection ratings can provide operators with a competitive advantage in a crowded market.
