Blackberry Wood Camping, Glamping and Treehouses, a family-run site located in Streat at the foot of the South Downs National Park in Sussex, remains open 365 days a year, including during Christmas, New Year, and Halloween.
The property offers a variety of accommodation options ranging from traditional camping pitches to unique glamping units.
The site features distinctive stays such as a converted fire engine, a holiday bus, a gypsy caravan, an Airstream trailer, multiple cabins, a two-bedroom lodge, and handcrafted treehouses.
All glamping accommodations come with private outdoor areas, including campfire spaces. The campsite also provides around twenty woodland camping pitches, complemented by additional summer family camping areas with views of the surrounding hills.

To manage guest experience, Blackberry Wood does not accept group bookings of more than three families and enforces separate parking to maintain traffic-free pathways.
Wheelbarrows are provided for transporting gear to woodland and meadow pitches. The campsite also restricts dogs to certain accommodations, while food trucks are invited on site during peak times.
Bookings require full payment in advance. Cancellations made more than 30 days before arrival qualify for a 90 percent refund, while those made within 30 days are non-refundable.
Parking carries a seasonal fee of £5 per car, per night. One-night glamping stays, last-minute cancellations, and food van schedules are shared through the business’s Facebook page.

Facilities include two play areas, handcrafted toilets and showers, chemical waste disposal for campervans, and an on-site shop selling locally sourced products, essentials, and certified “Ready to Burn” firewood.
Guests are asked to purchase logs on-site in line with government fuel regulations and to avoid collecting wood to preserve wildlife habitats.
The business emphasizes sustainability, sourcing electricity from green providers and using solar power, environmentally friendly cleaning products, and a £60,000 sewage treatment system.
Recycling is mandatory, and disposable barbecues are discouraged in favor of provided grills.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality industry, Blackberry Wood highlights several operational strategies worth noting. Its strict group policy aims to preserve a family-oriented atmosphere, while its use of quirky accommodation such as buses and aircraft illustrates how repurposed vehicles can become unique revenue streams.
The business also reinforces the growing importance of eco-credentials in consumer decision-making, investing significantly in sustainable infrastructure while leveraging local supply chains for added value.
Located just seven miles from Brighton and about an hour from London, the campsite benefits from proximity to urban markets while offering guests a rural experience.
The surrounding Sussex countryside provides extensive walking, cycling, and horse-riding opportunities, further enhancing the site’s appeal.
