Salop Leisure Sees Demand Spike at Secure Caravan Storage Site

Salop Leisure has reported a sharp increase in demand for its secure caravan storage facility in Shrewsbury, following the closure of other local storage sites.

The facility, located at the company’s headquarters near the A5, is capable of accommodating up to 500 touring caravans and currently holds the highest-level platinum accreditation from the Caravan Storage Site Owners’ Association (CaSSOA).

According to Sian Rees, storage facility sales administrator at Salop Leisure, the site has experienced a notable uptick in customer numbers in recent months.

“Many of our customers have stored their touring caravans and motorhomes with us since we opened the storage facility. We have seen a recent surge in customers following the closure of other local storage facilities,” she told Out & About Live.

The company attributes this rise in demand to a combination of increased security concerns and the recent reduction in available storage spaces elsewhere in the region.

Salop Leisure’s storage facility offers a range of security features, including CCTV surveillance, alarmed perimeter fencing, an electronic entry system, and a secure holding bay.

In addition to security, the facility provides value-added services such as daylight access, waste disposal, tyre pressure checks, on-site servicing, and a raised platform for power washing.

The ‘store and tow’ service, which transports customers’ caravans to the nearby Love2Stay resort for overnight stays, remains a particularly popular option among regular users.

“Customers like our storage facility because of the independence, convenience, and peace of mind it offers them. They can come and go as they wish, knowing that their caravan or motorhome is safe and secure when not in use,” Rees added.

Salop Leisure has positioned its storage operation as part of a broader customer support strategy, offering integrated servicing and access to an on-site accessory shop.

The proximity to Love2Stay, the company’s award-winning leisure resort, provides additional convenience for caravan and motorhome users who want a seamless transition from storage to holiday accommodation.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality and caravan sectors, Salop Leisure’s integrated approach highlights the potential to enhance customer retention and service quality through on-site ancillary offerings.

By combining storage with maintenance, retail, and resort services, operators can expand revenue streams while meeting growing consumer expectations for convenience and security.

Salop Leisure, which started as Salop Caravans in 1966, has grown into a leading dealership for caravans, campervans, and motorhomes across the Midlands and Mid Wales. Its Emstrey site, opened in 2006, serves as the central hub for both retail and service operations.
