Riverside Campsite in Pont Rug, near Caernarfon, has been named Wales’ best campsite in the 2025 AA Caravan & Camping Awards, an annual recognition program celebrating the UK’s top outdoor accommodation sites.
The AA Caravan & Camping Awards highlight 13 outstanding locations across the UK, including national and regional winners and special categories such as the AA Glamping Site of the Year, AA Sustainable Park of the Year, and AA Most Improved Campsite of the Year.
The winners were selected by the AA’s team of expert inspectors for their quality, facilities, and commitment to customer satisfaction.
The Gwynedd-based Riverside Campsite occupies the site of a former garden centre and offers a mix of glamping and traditional camping experiences.
Accommodation options include tented lodges, off-grid cabins, riverside grassy pitches, and fully serviced hard-standing pitches for caravans and motorhomes. Low-season prices start at £29.50 per night, with high-season rates from £34.50.
The site also features a bistro serving breakfast and lunch, a bar, and a children’s play area. Additional facilities include a café-restaurant, volleyball and badminton courts, and access to river fishing permits.
The site’s four “Riverside Cabans” come equipped with wood-burning stoves, private gardens, and Japanese hot tubs, while two mountain-view tented lodges include private saunas and sleep up to six people.
According to the AA’s inspection report, “Set in the grounds of a former garden centre and enjoying a superb location along the River Seiont, Riverside Camping is approached by an impressive tree-lined drive. Immaculately maintained by the owners, there is a mixture of riverside grassy pitches and fully serviced pitches for caravans and motorhomes.”

According to Wales Online, all award winners were featured in the 58th edition of the AA Caravan & Camping Guide, which was released on 6 November 2025 for £14.99.
