Redline Campers Secures Prestigious NCC Approval for Campervan Conversions

Redline Campers, a campervan conversion company, has achieved a significant milestone by gaining prestigious approval from the National Caravan Council (NCC) according to a press release. This accomplishment comes just two years after the company took complete control of its campervan range production in-house.

On July 1, Redline Campers’ campervans received recognition from the NCC’s Manufacturers Approval Scheme. This certification ensures that the company’s campervan conversions not only meet but exceed the BS EN 1646 European Health & Safety Standards. The approval process involved comprehensive inspections and safety checks conducted by the NCC, including on-site inspections.

Located at Watford Gap, near Daventry in Northamptonshire, Redline Campers is the in-house brand of Venture Caravans, an award-winning leisure vehicle retailer. While Venture Caravans has been operating from its Watford Gap site since 1971, the Redline Campers brand was established just seven years ago. The company currently offers six distinct campervan models in its range.

By securing NCC approval, Redline Campers has joined an elite group of only 15 companies in the UK licensed to display the NCC badge. Notably, they are now one of just four VW campervan converters in the country to achieve this distinction. This approval sets Redline Campers apart in an industry where many converters operate without such recognized certifications.

For the first five years of its existence, Redline Campers collaborated with another converter to produce its campervan range. However, two years ago, the company made a strategic decision to bring the entire production process in-house. This move required a substantial investment of £750,000 to construct and equip a dedicated production facility within the company’s headquarters, situated along the A5 and adjacent to the Grand Union Canal.

Since taking control of production, Redline Campers has made remarkable progress in terms of quality assurance and safety standards. The company has been audited to the internationally recognized ISO 9001 standard, demonstrating their quality management. Additionally, they have obtained Type Approval from the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) through the GB Small Series Type Approval scheme.

The NCC Approved Badge, which Redline Campers can now proudly display on their campervan conversions, serves as a testament to the rigorous safety and technical checks conducted by industry specialists. This certification confirms that the company’s vehicles not only meet but surpass British and European safety standards. Each Redline Campers campervan conversion will now carry an NCC Approved badge, with a certificate issued to the new owner of the conversion.

To achieve this approval, Redline Campers underwent thorough on-site inspections of its production facility. The process included meticulous safety checks on gas and electrical installations, furnishings, and cooking equipment. These inspections examined up to 600 points on Redline Campers’ units, ensuring comprehensive compliance with industry regulations.

Mark Turley, director of Redline Campers, expressed his pride in the company’s achievement, stating, “We are delighted to have gained prestigious approval from the NCC and are proud to say our campervan conversions exceed stringent European health & safety standards. This is a massive milestone for our brand and sets us apart from hundreds of campervan converters across the country.”

Turley further emphasized the significance of the NCC Approved Badge for customers, saying, “Having the NCC Approved badge gives our customers peace of mind. The badge demonstrates they are purchasing a fully tested product and a product that is built to a consistent standard.”

The National Caravan Council, established in 1939, plays a crucial role in championing the leisure vehicle and parks industry. The NCC provides various industry services, including technical and regulatory support, as well as access to industry research and data. By gaining NCC approval, Redline Campers joins the ranks of well-established manufacturers of caravans and motorhomes, including household names like Bailey of Bristol and Swift Group Ltd.

This achievement not only highlights Redline Campers’ dedication to quality and safety but also enhances customer trust in their products. Redline Campers’ NCC approval marks a significant step forward for the company and the industry as a whole, promising a safer and more reliable experience for campervan enthusiasts across the UK.
