Redline Campers has secured VCA Whole Vehicle Type Approval and National Caravan Council (NCC) Manufacturer Approval for its Sport GT campervan model, which is built on Ford’s second-generation Transit Custom V710 platform.
The approvals were finalized in early June 2025, following voluntary safety and quality testing.
The V710 platform replaces the Volkswagen T6.1 base vehicle previously used in most of Redline’s conversions, which ceased production.
In shifting to Ford’s Transit Custom, the company sought to maintain its quality and safety standards by undergoing testing with both the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) and the NCC.
VCA Type Approval, granted under the GB Small Series Approval Scheme, required Redline Campers to pass a series of Department for Transport safety tests.
These included checks on structural integrity, seatbelt anchorage systems, and electrical systems, as well as validation of the company’s ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.

NCC Approval focused on the habitation side of the Sport GT, covering gas and electrical installations, ventilation, furnishings, and cooking facilities, with ongoing audits required to retain the certification.
Commenting on the approvals, Ben Marks, production manager at Redline Campers, said:
“Having the approval of the VCA and the NCC is of incredible importance to us. Both provide a comprehensive, multi-layered testing regime for our campervans, this enables us to not only ensure their quality but crucially, their safety too. In order to be recognised as a manufacturer offering quality and safe conversions, it was key for us to have both of these approvals.”
The Sport GT, which offers four berths, features a twin polycarbonate elevating roof, Cabanon roof tent, Vanshades Window Pods, CNC-machined furniture, and a Mobiframe sliding bed/seat system, along with Dometic kitchen appliances.
It is available in both short and long wheelbase configurations.

The model was named “Highly Commended” in the Best Small Campervan category at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2025. The publication highlighted its flexible design, kitchen layout, and noise-reducing front spoiler.
Redline Campers, established in 2017 as the campervan conversion arm of Venture Caravans & Motorhomes, now offers six models from its production facility in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
With both VCA and NCC approvals, the Sport GT joins the company’s Sport, Sport XS, Sport +, and Classic models in meeting recognized safety and quality benchmarks. Although neither certification is mandatory in the UK, the company states these measures reflect its ongoing commitment to building safe and high-quality leisure vehicles.
