Pure Leisure Group, a Lancashire holiday park operator, has acquired Mains of Taymouth Country Estate and Golf Course in Kenmore, Perthshire, further expanding its Scottish presence. Commercial real estate firm Colliers arranged the acquisition.
Set on the banks of Loch Tay, Mains of Taymouth offers 5-star holiday home rental and ownership, including static caravans, holiday lodges, and a collection of 19th Century cottages, according to a report.
The accommodation is complemented with amenities such as the on-site golf course, bar, restaurant, delicatessen, and shop. For the past century, the Menzies family owned the estate, marking the acquisition as an end of an era.
“It was simply an opportunity we couldn’t miss. Robin and his predecessors have created an impressive destination. The large and loyal customer base is a testament to the hard work of Robin and the staff at Mains,” said John Morphet, owner of Pure Leisure Group.
“We as a family have put our heart and soul into making the estate the best it can be and are very proud of creating thousands of quality customer experiences over the years,” Robin Menzies of Mains of Taymouth said.
“Pure Leisure is the ideal custodian of the estate and will bring both experience and fresh ideas to taking the estate forward.”
Mains of Taymouth will now become a part of Pure Leisure Group’s Royal Westmoreland brand.
Richard Moss, head of the UK Parks Agency at Colliers, said the family had owned the estate for 100 years, and it was essential to find a proper buyer. They’re confident that Pure Leisure’s arrival will be good news for customers, staff, and the area.
Pure Leisure Group intends to continue the development work on the park that has already commenced, which includes the addition of different lodges plus some new holiday accommodation.
