Residents Raise Questions Over Possible Impacts of Proposed Expansion of Inverness Caravan and Glamping Park

Owners of an Inverness (Scotland) glamping and caravan park have been asked to give assurance regarding plans to build a new clubhouse and a swimming complex on the grounds.

As per a report, the decision by Highland Council planning officials came after residents expressed concerns over the possible impact.

Ardtower Caravan Park‘s owners, Iain Mackintosh, and Elaine Pope, have filed a petition to expand with ten new glamping pods.

In addition to new accommodation pods, there will also be a new access road, parking, pathways, a children’s play trail, and landscaping works, including a water feature pond.

Highland Council’s environmental health team has asked them to submit proposals on restricting noise at the time of construction and after the new facilities are in operation.

There would also be an agreed-upon limit for operating the clubhouse and pool between 8 am and 9 pm for caravan park residents. Assurances were also sought regarding ventilation systems that would prevent the odor of kitchens and dust during construction.

The submission to the environmental health department included a thorough risk assessment on creating a pond area, with the owners having a duty to protect staff and visitors at all times.

Three neighboring households have made comments raising concerns over noise impacts from guests. However, only one of them was classified as an objection.

Two other neighbors expressed concern about a possible increase in traffic at the already congested Culloden Road and Tower Road junction.

A revised design document on behalf of the applicants said the proposed project was in line with Highland Council’splanning guidelines to support tourism.
