As campsites across North Wales conclude the 2025 season, several are turning their attention to the year ahead with new distinctions earned from the annual Camping and Glamping Awards organized by Campsites.co.uk.
The awards, which evaluated 3,300 locations across the United Kingdom, recognized several North Wales destinations for excellence in guest experience and facilities.
Plassey Holiday Park near Wrexham received particular recognition, being named the UK’s Best Family Campsite in the 2025 edition of the awards.
Situated within 250 acres of park and woodland in the Dee Valley, the site offers touring pitches and camping facilities, as well as a range of amenities including an indoor swimming pool, clubhouse, and on-site retail village.
For guests seeking recreation, Plassey also features fishing ponds, nature trails, and a nine-hole golf course with a driving range and pitch-and-putt area.
According to NorthWalesLive, judges noted that the site “has something for everyone,” a sentiment echoed by guests. According to Campsites.co.uk, 98% of visitors recommend staying there. One guest shared, “Travelled a lot around the country and Plassey comes top of the list for us.” Another review stated, “If we could give more stars, we definitely would have.”
Although Plassey narrowly missed being crowned Britain’s top campsite overall—an honor that went to Watermouth Valley Camping Park in Devon—it secured its place among the most celebrated destinations in the UK outdoor hospitality sector.
Another North Wales site, Nantcol Waterfalls in Eryri National Park, was also named a runner-up. Located near Llanbedr in Gwynedd, the riverside campsite is known for its natural surroundings and proximity to a waterfall.
Anglesey’s Maes Carafanau Penbryn Caravan Site was also among the national awardees, taking home the title of the UK’s Best Newcomer.
Located on a working farm near Gwalchmai, the site integrates agricultural charm with modern amenities. Guests are invited to engage in hands-on experiences such as meeting farm animals and collecting fresh eggs for breakfast.
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector, these awards highlight ongoing consumer interest in sites that combine strong infrastructure with authentic, nature-based experiences.
As campsites prepare for the 2026 season, recognition through such awards not only builds credibility but can also enhance marketing potential by aligning properties with emerging visitor preferences for family-friendly, activity-rich environments.
