Plans Submitted for Reception Upgrade at Poston Mill Touring and Holiday Home Park

Poston Mill Touring and Holiday Home Park has submitted a planning application to Herefordshire Council for a new reception building and associated site improvements.

The park, located near Peterchurch, is seeking permission to replace its existing reception, which was originally intended as a temporary structure but has remained in use for approximately three decades.

The proposal, lodged by Edward Goddard, outlines a reception building that would include a reception area, shop space, a warden’s office, and accessible facilities.

In addition to the new structure, the plan includes modifications to the internal road network near the reception, including widening the access road to improve circulation around the site.

Sustainability is a component of the project, with plans for photovoltaic panels and other design features intended to make the building more energy efficient than the current facility.

The application describes the project as an opportunity to modernize the entrance area and provide a more functional environment for visitors and staff.

Herefordshire Council has opened a consultation period for the application, which runs until October 16. Members of the public, including local residents and interested stakeholders, may submit comments either in support or opposition before this date.

According to Hereford Times, a decision on the proposal is expected by November 7, under the planning application number P252474/F.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality industry, projects like this highlight the importance of reinvestment in core guest-facing infrastructure.

Reception areas often serve as the first point of contact for visitors, setting the tone for guest experience while also offering opportunities for retail and operational efficiency.

Incorporating energy-efficient designs and accessible features not only improves day-to-day functionality but also aligns with broader industry trends toward sustainability and inclusivity.

Business owners considering similar upgrades may view this as an example of how a relatively modest project—such as replacing a reception facility—can deliver both operational benefits and long-term value.
