Overseas Investor Acquires Peak District Holiday Campsite Through DJH Commercial

DJH Commercial Ltd has completed the acquisition of the Duke of York Pub & Holiday Campsite in Pomeroy, Buxton, on behalf of an overseas investor client.

The transaction, which formally concluded on October 15, involved legal support from Spencer West Solicitors, whose dedicated Chinese Desk assisted throughout the process.

The deal was described as a complex transaction due to the buyer’s overseas status and the tightening of money laundering regulations that required extensive due diligence and verification.

DJH Commercial acted on a full advisory basis, providing negotiation, due diligence coordination, and financial arrangements to facilitate the acquisition.

Director at DJH Commercial, Daniel Hawkins, said:

“We are delighted to have completed this acquisition on behalf of our client. The transaction required extensive coordination between multiple parties and jurisdictions, and we are grateful to both our client and the sellers for their cooperation and patience throughout what was a detailed and demanding process.”

Located in the Peak District, the Duke of York property features a traditional country pub alongside licensed camping and caravan facilities, providing family-friendly accommodation for visitors.

According to a report by East Midlands Business Link, plans for the site include reopening with an updated food offering featuring traditional pub meals, carveries, and Chinese cuisine.

Further developments are expected to include the installation of electric vehicle charging points and high-speed internet access, aimed at improving accessibility and meeting the expectations of today’s travelers.

These planned upgrades align with broader trends in the outdoor hospitality sector, where operators are increasingly investing in infrastructure that enhances guest convenience and sustainability.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality industry, the acquisition highlights continued investor interest in UK-based holiday parks and mixed-use accommodations that combine lodging with food and beverage services.

As regulatory and operational requirements become more complex, the transaction also underscores the growing importance of strategic partnerships and comprehensive due diligence in facilitating international investment within the sector.
