Northumberland Glamping Site Launches Mobile App to Improve Guest Services

Herding Hill Farm Camping and Glamping Site in Northumberland has launched a custom mobile app designed to enhance guest experiences and streamline access to key information.

The app, developed in partnership with technology firm Holidaymaker, provides visitors with details on site amenities, accommodation options, and local attractions while also offering interactive features such as itinerary planning and real-time notifications.

According to a report by Northumberland Gazette, the app aims to improve guest engagement by allowing users to explore an interactive map of the campsite, access local dining and activity recommendations, and receive updates on special offers. It also enables guests to re-book before departure to secure a loyalty discount.

According to Sue Humphreys, who manages the site with her husband Phil, the app builds on the site’s existing services. “The app boosts the services we already provide and helps ensure that our guests have all the information they need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay,” she said.

Industry professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector may see this as an example of how digital tools can enhance customer service and operational efficiency.

Mobile applications such as this one not only provide guests with self-service options but also allow operators to communicate in real-time, manage customer feedback, and promote additional services.

As technology becomes a more integral part of the camping and glamping industry, similar digital platforms could serve as a way for businesses to differentiate themselves in a competitive market.

David Lakins, CEO of Holidaymaker, emphasized the impact of the app’s features, stating, “The app is already seeing an impressive number of downloads, enabling guests to better self-serve and fully explore the stunning surroundings.”

The technology has also helped staff streamline guest interactions and engagement, demonstrating its value beyond just the visitor experience.

Herding Hill Farm is one of three five-star camping and glamping sites operated by WCF, an employee-owned company with a presence in leisure, retail, and logistics.

Customized versions of the app have also been introduced at the company’s sister sites, Drummohr near Edinburgh and Longnor Wood in the Peak District.

As more outdoor hospitality businesses explore digital solutions, tools like this app could play a key role in guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and direct marketing efforts. The Herding Hill Farm app is now available for download on major mobile platforms.
