The Caravan and Motorhome Club has announced the latest route in its Walking Wanderers – Walk of the Month series, highlighting Lady Margaret’s Park Club Campsite in Wrexham, North Wales. Located within the historic grounds of Chirk Castle, the walk combines heritage trails with natural scenery and is designed to be accessible for walkers of varying abilities.
The 10-kilometre circular walk begins at Lady Margaret’s Park Club Campsite and passes through the grounds of Chirk Castle, before following part of the Offa’s Dyke Path. Walkers can experience countryside views, woodland trails, and a view of Chirk Aqueduct.
Local cafes are also available for refreshments along the route. The initiative emphasizes the mental and physical benefits of outdoor activity, encouraging participants to explore the UK’s walking routes.
Lady Margaret’s Park Club Campsite is part of the National Trust’s Chirk Castle estate. The site provides facilities such as dog walking areas, laundry services, and motorhome service points, allowing visitors to plan walks ranging from short strolls to full-day hikes.
According to a press release, Former Prime Minister David Lloyd George described Chirk’s landscape as “a little bit of heaven on earth,” reflecting the historical and scenic interest of the location.
The Walking Wanderers initiative invites members to log their walks, share favorite routes, and take part in monthly prize draws that include walking gear and free campsite stays. The program takes its name from The Wanderer, known as the world’s first leisure caravan, linking walking and caravan travel in a spirit of exploration.
Members interested in participating can access further information, log walks, and share updates via the Caravan and Motorhome Club website or through social media using the hashtag #WalkingWanderers.
The next Walk of the Month will be announced by the Club at the start of February, continuing the series that encourages members to combine outdoor walking with visits to caravan and campsite locations.
For industry professionals, initiatives like Walking Wanderers offer insight into combining accommodation services with outdoor activity programs, highlighting how campsites can position themselves as starting points for local walks, heritage trails, and nature experiences—a growing interest among UK leisure travelers.
