A new glamping site featuring converted vintage vehicles has opened near the Lincolnshire coast, offering guests an alternative to traditional accommodations.
Husband-and-wife team Alex and Louise Leiserach, originally from South London, launched Layby Lincs on March 3, 2025, after relocating to Lincolnshire in 2024 with the goal of creating a unique outdoor hospitality experience.
Situated in Irby in the Marsh, near Skegness, the site is located at the rear of the couple’s farmhouse and features five themed vehicles, each with private facilities.
Alex Leiserach said, “My wife and I have built a brand new luxury concept glamping site in Irby in the Marsh, near Skegness. We have five uniquely themed vehicles each with their own private facilities.”
Accommodation options include a 1950s Airstream caravan known as Peggy Sue, a 1970s Dennis Fire Engine, a 1990s Race Horse Transporter, a 1970s disco-themed RV, and a Ford F250 pickup truck. Rates start at £120 per night.
Louise Leiserach noted that guests are often “pleasantly surprised” by the spaciousness of the vehicles, adding, “it’s lovely being able to surprise people as you can see it in pictures but you don’t really get the feel of it until you’re here.”
Each unit offers a king-size bed, air conditioning, an outdoor kitchen, a private bathroom cabin with a rainfall shower, and a wood-fired hot tub.
“All of our vehicles are your living and sleeping space with a king-size bed, AC for both hot and cold, and somewhere cosy and comfy to relax,” said Alex in a report by Derbyshire Live.
“This links onto the covered deck where you find your outdoor kitchen. Also on the deck is your private bathroom cabin with a giant rainfall shower. Just off the deck is your own wood-fired hot tub, which we can look after on your behalf.”
The site is adults-only and pet-friendly, emphasizing privacy and comfort with no shared facilities.
“We are trying to put the glam back into glamping with no shared facilities and lots of luxuries for both you and your pooch,” Alex added.
Guests are provided with linens, towels, robes, and complimentary slippers during their stay. Louise described the setting as a “magical secluded place” and said they knew it was “perfect” when they first saw the plot.
After more than a year of preparation and careful vehicle conversions, Layby Lincs has seen encouraging early demand. Louise reported they have been “almost sold out the last few weekends” and have recently expanded their reach by listing on Airbnb.
For outdoor hospitality business owners, Layby Lincs offers a case study in niche market differentiation, showcasing how themed accommodations and a focus on privacy and amenities can meet the growing demand for distinctive and comfortable glamping experiences.
Their approach highlights opportunities to capitalize on travelers’ increasing desire for unique stays that blend nostalgia with modern luxury.
