A new collection of luxury glamping pods has been introduced at Murrayshall, a country estate in Perthshire, as part of a £30 million phased development plan. The launch marks the completion of the first stage of the long-term project, which has been in planning for five years.
The addition expands Murrayshall’s accommodation capacity by 50 percent, complementing the estate’s existing 40 rooms and suites across its main house and Balvaird House.
The 365-acre property is located a short distance from Perth and is positioning itself as a destination for both leisure travel and nature-focused retreats.
Developed in partnership with Scottish glamping specialist Armadilla, the pods are designed to provide comfort while connecting guests with the surrounding countryside. Each unit includes underfloor heating, air conditioning, and televisions.
Gary Silcock, general manager at Murrayshall, told The Scotsman:
“This has been five years in the making and represents the first phase of our £30m investment in the future of Murrayshall. The 50 per cent increase in our accommodation capacity naturally means more employment opportunities will follow, which is fantastic news for our team and the local community.”
”These pods offer something truly special for guests seeking that perfect blend of comfort and connection with nature. We now offer three different room choices from the main house, suites in Balvaird house, and luxury pods.”
Silcock added that collaborating with local suppliers was central to the project’s rollout. “Working with local partners like Armadilla has been essential in creating an authentic Scottish experience that truly reflects our estate’s heritage,” he said.
“These partnerships ensure our guests enjoy genuine Scottish luxury while we continue to support the wider Perthshire business community.”
For outdoor hospitality professionals, the development illustrates how traditional estates are diversifying their offerings by integrating glamping products into established accommodation portfolios.
By blending hotel-style amenities with immersive nature experiences, operators such as Murrayshall aim to appeal to a wider market while increasing on-site capacity.
This model may be of interest to park and resort owners considering expansion strategies that balance heritage with evolving guest expectations.
