Marsham Shepherd’s Huts Provide Pet-Friendly Getaways Near Norfolk Coast

Top Farm in Marsham has added a shepherd’s hut accommodation named Isabel to its portfolio of glamping options. The hut, one of three on the site, is situated on the western edge of a field known as Ovens Mouth, adjacent to 288 acres of Marsham Heath, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The field’s name dates back nearly 200 years, originating from a system designed to help illiterate farm workers distinguish one field from another.

Isabel is designed for two guests and welcomes one dog for an additional charge of £10 per night. The accommodation features a king-size bed, a lounge area with two armchairs, a log burner, underfloor heating, and a fully equipped kitchenette with a mini fridge, induction hob, air fryer, and toaster.

A private bathroom includes a flushing toilet, heated towel rail, and hot shower. Outdoor facilities comprise a large paved patio, picnic table, and barbecue space, although guests are required to bring their own charcoal and utensils. Parking is available near the hut. Children are not permitted.

Top Farm operates as a campsite, so guests may encounter others in tents or caravans as well as walkers and dog owners using the surrounding paths. The site is open year-round and offers proximity to the North Norfolk Coast and The Broads National Park, approximately 20 minutes away by car.

The location is near the village of Marsham and multiple market towns, including Aylsham, known for its historic linen and textile trade and as the northern terminus of the Bure Valley Railway. Local walking and cycling routes include the Bure Valley Walk and the Weavers Way trail.

Visitors can access a variety of nearby attractions, such as the National Trust Blickling Estate, Cromer with its pier and beaches, and Norfolk Broads boat hire.

The area hosts seasonal events, including the Aylsham Country Show each August bank holiday, local markets, and community festivals. The proximity to both natural and cultural landmarks positions Top Farm’s shepherd’s huts as a potential draw for visitors seeking nature-based experiences with modern conveniences.

For glamping operators and outdoor accommodation providers, the setup at Top Farm illustrates the value of integrating off-grid, nature-oriented stays with accessible modern facilities. The combination of self-contained units, pet-friendly policies, and nearby amenities may offer a model for diversifying rural accommodation offerings in similar regions.
