Longnor Wood Holiday Park in North Staffordshire has been named the AA Heart of England Campsite of the Year as part of this year’s AA Caravan and Camping Awards.
The recognition highlights the park’s continued performance in the adult-only segment of the UK’s outdoor hospitality industry.
Located approximately six miles northwest of Leek, Longnor Wood offers a variety of accommodation, including en-suite glamping pods, luxury lodges, caravan holiday homes with private hot tubs, and all-weather pitches for camping and touring.
The site is open year-round, with the exception of January, and caters exclusively to adults. It is also dog-friendly and positioned near the Peak District National Park, offering access to numerous walking and cycling routes.
The AA described the site as a “hidden gem” and cited its “warm, friendly welcome and a high standard of customer care” as key factors in its selection.
The site’s recognition at the AA awards follows a previous accolade from Campsites.co.uk, which named Longnor Wood the UK’s Best Adult Only Site in its 2023 Camping and Glamping Awards.
A spokesperson for Longnor Wood commented on the achievement, stating:
“The success of the site is thanks to the passion and dedication of the entire team, who work really hard to ensure our guests have a brilliant time with us. Many of our guests are repeat visitors because they love the site and its location so much.”
Simon Numphud, managing director at AA Media, emphasized the importance of quality and sustainability across the sector in a report by StokeonTrentLive.
“As local travel continues to grow and sustainable tourism gains momentum, we are excited to announce the best camping and caravanning destinations for the upcoming year,” he said.
“This year’s winners have demonstrated outstanding quality along with a strong dedication to eco-friendly practices and customer satisfaction, making them excellent options for UK travellers.”
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality industry, Longnor Wood’s success underscores the growing value of niche offerings, such as adult-only experiences, coupled with consistent service standards and attention to the guest experience.
The park’s repeat visitor base and ongoing accolades suggest strong customer loyalty—an increasingly important metric in a competitive domestic tourism market.
