Holme Pierrepont Country Park Earns Dual Honors at Nottinghamshire Tourism Awards

Holme Pierrepont Country Park, home to the National Water Sports Centre in Nottinghamshire, received recognition at the 2025 Nottinghamshire Tourism Awards, earning honors in two categories.

The venue took home the Bronze Award for Visitor Attraction of the Year and the Silver Award for Camping, Glamping, and Holiday Park of the Year.

Organized by Visit Nottinghamshire, the annual awards ceremony celebrates achievements across the region’s tourism, leisure, culture, and hospitality sectors. The event took place on March 20 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, according to a report by Nottingham World.

Operated by More Leisure Community Trust in partnership with Serco Leisure on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, Holme Pierrepont Country Park has gained attention for its dual role as both an adventure-focused visitor destination and a provider of outdoor accommodations.

The awards acknowledge the park’s delivery of quality guest experiences and excellence in operations, particularly within the holiday park category, which recognizes venues that stand out in service, experience, and facility management.

Brian Taylor, chair of More Community Leisure Trust, attributed the recognition to the park’s staff and community: “We are proud to be recognised in these two categories. These awards highlight our commitment to providing an exceptional experience for visitors.”

He added, “I’d like to thank our incredible team who make the centre such a welcoming and fun place to be. I’d also like to thank all people who’ve visited our campsite or enjoyed any of the many attractions on offer at Holme Pierrepont Country Park.”

For outdoor hospitality business operators, Holme Pierrepont’s achievements underscore the importance of integrating recreational activities with high-quality accommodations.

Their recognition in both attraction and accommodation categories illustrates a growing industry trend where multi-functional destinations are gaining favor among guests and tourism bodies alike. This presents an opportunity for campground and holiday park operators to diversify offerings by incorporating more experiential elements into their properties.

The site’s success also reflects the potential impact of partnerships between public entities and private or charitable trusts.

With More Leisure Community Trust and Serco Leisure working in tandem with the local council, the model offers a case study in collaborative management that balances community access with professional operational standards—an approach other site managers may look to as they pursue long-term sustainability and guest satisfaction.
