Harrison Holidays Acquires Ardlui Resort, Announces Expansion Plans

Ardlui Hotel, Marina and Holiday Park, located on the northern shore of Loch Lomond in Scotland, will undergo an expansion following its acquisition by Harrison Holidays. The resort spans 11 acres and includes a 12-bedroom hotel, a marina, and a caravan park.

Harrison Holidays, a family-run business, took ownership of the resort after its previous owners retired. The company has secured a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK to support refurbishment and expansion plans.

These plans include updates to the hotel and surrounding grounds, as well as the development of additional lodge and pod accommodation for holiday rentals. Two existing houses on the estate will also be refurbished to operate as luxury holiday lets. The marina may also be expanded to accommodate more boats.

William Harrison, director at Harrison Holidays, told Boutique Hotelier, “Ardlui Hotel, Marina and Holiday Park already has a well-established reputation, providing customers with high-quality hospitality situated within Loch Lomond’s iconic, picturesque countryside.”

”With HSBC’s support, we can now add to this rich legacy. As a family-run business, we are always strategic with growth and expansion plans. This investment into such a unique holiday park marks an exciting step forward, creating new opportunities for our business and delivering benefits to both holidaymakers and community members alike.”

David Edwards, global relationship director at HSBC UK, added, “This acquisition is a fantastic example of a business identifying a significant investment opportunity that strengthens its own portfolio but also contributes to local tourism and economic growth in the region.

As one of the UK’s largest family-owned holiday and leisure park businesses, Harrison Holidays has a long history of offering family-friendly holiday experiences. We are proud that, with our support, the business can provide even more holidaymakers with a greater range of destinations.”

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector, this development demonstrates the potential for combining traditional hospitality with outdoor accommodation offerings such as lodges, pods, and caravan facilities.

Investors and operators can observe how strategic refurbishment and expansion, supported by external funding, can enhance guest experiences and operational revenue while supporting local tourism. The Ardlui project may serve as a reference for similar initiatives in private holiday parks, glamping resorts, and caravan or RV accommodations.
