Glamping in Herefordshire (United Kingdom) is growing, as indicated by three proposals that have been submitted.
According to a report, the Wells campsite, located near Bromyard, intends to add nine to its existing five Airstream caravans to offer what it calls an upmarket glamping experience.
It describes the distinct glossy, retro-style US-made caravans as the trailer of choice for former pop stars and famous country singers.
The five current caravans were tested during the summer of 2020 when they were fully booked and received rave reviews from guests.
It also provides single-story reception, timber-clad reception, toilet, and utility building at the Green Lane site.
The caravans would be distributed over 3.4 hectares of fields and could only be used during the spring and autumn and then stored away the rest of the year.
A previous planning application for twelve glamping pitches on a site that was twice the size was considered too large a scale by the planning case officer.
Across the County, Trewern Outdoor Centre of Cusop near Hay-on-Wye is seeking to construct four pre-made glamping pods within the center’s grounds.
Each has a footprint of 40 square meters, the Lancashire-made Moddpods comprise two bedrooms, a living room, a shower, and are fully insulated.
Pre-application advice from the Herefordshire Council found the plans broadly acceptable and in conformity with the council’s policy regarding tourism.
Meanwhile, nearby Clifford’s permission has been granted for a holiday yurt and an additional composting toilet at the farm of Artistraw Cider.
Head of Economic Development Roger Allonby said that it is great to see that the country’s tourism is booming, as Herefordshire is becoming a far more recognized staycation destination.
