A coastal holiday park in East Devon has completed a series of upgrades and expansions ahead of the summer season, adding new accommodation, family facilities, and entertainment offerings as it continues to invest in its guest experience.
Ladram Bay Holiday Park has introduced 13 new modern holiday homes, each with three bedrooms. Branded as the Lobster Lodges, they are positioned as the park’s most spacious units and include interiors with a double bedroom, a twin room, and a sofa bed.
Each lodge also features a private hot tub on the decking with views across the coastline, reflecting a continued industry trend toward higher-end, experience-led accommodation in outdoor hospitality.
Alongside the accommodation expansion, the park has upgraded several of its family-focused amenities. The children’s outdoor play area, which includes a pirate ship known as “NaNa of Ladram,” has been rebuilt, while the indoor soft play area has also been updated.
The Beach Shack is currently undergoing refurbishment and is expected to open by the summer season, with a redesigned seaside-themed interior that will include an ice cream counter.
Additional entertainment developments include the introduction of silent discos on site, expanding the range of evening activities available to guests. New outdoor furniture and upgraded speakers are also being installed at the Pebbles restaurant for events, while the splash park is set to reopen for the summer.
The family-run holiday park is situated on a cliff-top location overlooking the Jurassic Coast and accommodates around 140 caravans, along with three apartments, safari tents, glamping pods, and a renovated former fisherman’s cottage.
The combination of traditional caravan accommodation and diversified lodging types reflects ongoing demand across the sector for mixed-use outdoor hospitality offerings.
The Sun’s Executive Daily News Editor, Emma Glanfield, visited Ladram Bay Holiday Park and described her experience: “With a glass of wine in hand, watching the sun set over the sea as clear waters lap the shore, I could have been in the Algarve.
“But no, rather than basking in Portugal, I was holidaying with the family at a caravan park on East Devon’s Jurassic Coast.”
She also noted the range of amenities available on site, stating: “Ladram overlooks a gorgeous section of the coast and even has its own private beach — accessible only to guests, via a slipway at the bottom of the park.”
Additional facilities include an on-site gym, outdoor adventure playground, indoor soft-play centre, amusement arcade, pottery and art classes in a dedicated studio, and an indoor pool with free family swim times and exercise classes. Evening entertainment is hosted in Waves Bar and includes bingo, live singers, children’s discos, and performance shows.
According to The Sun, the park is currently offering a 20% discount on stays using the code “DEVON20,” a pricing strategy commonly used across the sector to stimulate off-peak and early-season bookings.
In the surrounding area, Ladram Bay provides direct access to the South West Coast Path, which has seen increased visibility following its inclusion in the film adaptation of “The Salt Path.” Nearby attractions include Crealy Theme Park, which offers over 60 rides and attractions, as well as the coastal towns and beaches of Sidmouth, including Jacob’s Ladder Beach.
Further investment is also taking place at the park’s sister site, Castle Brake near Woodbury, where approximately £300,000 in upgrades has been completed. Improvements include a new static caravan area with two holiday lodges, new roads, and hard-standing bases designed to support a mix of two- and three-bedroom static caravans.
For operators in the outdoor hospitality sector, the developments reflect a broader pattern of capital investment focused on premium accommodation, expanded family amenities, and diversified entertainment programming, all aimed at increasing year-round appeal and guest spend.
